| For over a century, Hatch & Bailey has a strong community supporter, donating time, resources and materials to many local projects. Some of our recent donations have been to: Aspetuck Land TrustAspetuck Land Trust Inc. (http://www.aspetucklandtrust.org) is a non-profit Connecticut Corporation devoted to preserving open space and the natural resources of Easton, Fairfield, Weston and Westport for the benefit of the public. It was formed in 1966 by leading area conservationists. A Board of directors representing the 4 towns manages the Trust. Through generous gifts of land, continued efforts of volunteers, and cooperation from town agencies, the Aspetuck Land Trust has preserved over 1,700 acres of land, which will be maintained in a natural state in perpetuity. Westport Green Village InitiativeWestport Green Village Initiative ( http://westportgvi.org) is a volunteer-based grass roots non-profit established in Fall 2008 to support Westporters passionate about creating local environmental and community change. Our mission is to make Westport a model of what is possible. Projects to date have included creating the Wakeman Town Farm & Sustainabilty Center and Staples High School Edible Garden, funding our Farmers Market and Earthplace energy study, sponsoring the Sherwood Mill Pond Preserve, Eco-Fest, numerous film/lecture presentations and doing similar things in surrounding towns. Extreme Makeover: Home Edition – ConnecticutExtreme Makeover: Home Edition, is a reality television series providing home renovations for less-fortunate families, hosted by Ty Pennington. Each episode features a family that has faced some sort of recent or ongoing hardship – such as a natural disaster or a family member with a life-threatening illness. The show's producers coordinate with a local construction contractor, which then coordinates with various companies in the building trades for a makeover of the family's home. That includes interior, exterior and landscaping, which is performed in seven days while the family is on vacation (paid for by the show's producers), which is documented in the episode. If the house is beyond repair, they replace it entirely. The show's producers and crew film set and perform the makeover but do not pay for it. The materials and labor are donated. Many skilled and unskilled volunteers assist in the rapid construction of the house.
